What we collect
TNG Playlists is a fan-made, non-commercial website. We collect only the information needed to identify users and manage access rights:
- Email address — obtained from Google when you sign in with Google.
- Display name and profile picture — likewise obtained from Google.
- Account role (reader / writer / admin) — set by the site administrator.
- Watched episodes — the episodes you mark as watched. If you are signed in, this list is stored on our server so it follows you between devices. If you are not signed in, it is stored only in your browser's local storage and never sent to us.
Apart from the items listed above, we do not collect anything: no browsing history, no search queries, no keystrokes, no location, and no device information. There is no analytics software, no advertising, and no third-party trackers on this site.
How your information is used
Your information is used only for the purposes of:
- Identifying you when you sign in,
- Determining what you are allowed to do on the site (view playlists, create playlists, administer users), and
- Remembering which episodes you have marked as watched, so the marks are there next time.
Sharing and selling
We will never sell your information. We will never share your information with anyone, except as required by law. The only external party involved in sign-in is Google itself, which provides the identity verification you asked for when you choose to sign in with Google.
Cookies and local storage
We use a single session cookie to keep you signed in. It is HTTP-only and cannot be read by scripts. We do not use cookies for advertising or tracking.
We also use your browser's local storage for one key,
tngplaylists.watched, which holds the list of episodes you
have marked as watched while signed out. Local storage is not a cookie:
it is never transmitted with requests, so data stored there
never leaves your device. You can remove it at any time with the
"Clear my local data" button on this page, or through your browser's
site-data settings.
Where your information is stored
Your information is stored in the site's own database, on a server we control. It is never transferred to or stored with any other service.
Deletion and access
You can delete your account yourself from this page: the "Delete account" button below appears when you are signed in. This permanently removes your stored information — your account, your sign-in sessions and your watched episodes. Playlists are shared site content and stay behind, and your Google account is not affected. Guests can clear their browser-local data at any time with the "Clear my local data" button below.
You may also ask to see everything we hold about you, or to have your account and information deleted for you, by contacting the site administrator (via the contact details on the About page: email us). Deletion is permanent.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the "last updated" date above will be revised. Because this is a hobby project, we will do our best to keep it simple and honest.
